In Montalcino, the vineyards are located around the estate, on the south-west side of the hill, directly beneath the medieval walls. This is where Brunello is made, from vines planted in 1975 on poor but skeletal and marl-rich soils, ideal for wines that are aged for an extensive period of time.
Planted in 1997, 2011 and 2021, the northern terraces are the realm of Rosso di Montalcino production. The soils are composed of sand, silt, clay and stones, accommodating selected clones of Sangiovese Grosso.
